"freedom" by Pranavaa

Hey there!

Today I'm going to share a poem that I wrote about Freedom. I'm going to leave the rest up to your interpretation. Go ahead and give it a read!

Disclaimer: This poem is not intended to offend any, especially boys/men. I'm well aware that these freedoms are not experienced by all men and that these freedoms are given to women in societies too. I've used these words to show the stereotypical ways of society and for that purpose alone. 

"freedom" by Pranavaa

I want to live with the freedom of a man.

To walk the streets at night without a fear

In a mind that was taught to trust none, 

Especially not oneself around other men.

To be able to wear what I wish

Without being judged by a thousand eyes

In a world where you're living prey if you do.

To talk what's on my mind

Without being so 'full of myself'

And 'too bold' or 'outspoken'.

To be able to say 'no'

Without feeling apologetic and guilty, 

As if you're the reason for every bad in the world.

To not overthink every move

Because you were not brought up to 

Be quiet and belittle yourself for others.

But, oh what difference does my frivolous words make?

It's not like the world will replenish into a place where 

How one's body is formed 

Won't define what one is  

And how one is supposed to be.
